Born to love by royowen
Poem of the Month contest entry

Created man was born to love
no matter who they are.
We do not have to love their deeds,
that may be just too far.
Conditional is not the stance
yet foes still fit love's bill.
And If we can't accept that role,
the Lord through grace will fill.

For hatred never solved a crime,
and never, ever will.
And if we never learn to love,
we'll drink the devil's swill.
Lord Jesus took the lowest place
refused an earthly throne.
And died for us and for our sins
buck naked and alone.

So if the Lord can bow His head,
be ridiculed and torn,
Yet took for us what we deserve,
so we can be reborn.
He bowed His knee for our disgrace
and never turned away.
And called us all His kith and kin,
He turned our night to day.

Author Notes
It's funny, people have spoken glibly about unconditional love without fully understanding the implications, it means dying (if needs must) for someone else. Love always involves sacrifice to some degree. I don't think many could die for a friend or a loved one, yet Christ died while we were His enemies, to win our friendship, knowing that most would still despise Him, As is the case still today. And we can be hated in that stance, why? It's very confronting to be different, and choosing not to love wrong over.right. It is simply wrong not to love, because that is the reason of ALL conflict...lack of it.
Isaiah 53:4-6
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. NKJV
