A Plea for Freedom by A.Z. Schott
Rhyming Poetry Contest contest entry

O, say, can you see
How the Left and the Right
Have ruinously failed
And November is coming?
Can't we learn from these scars?
Let's not fight but unite!
What our leaders have botched
We shall fix with our teaming.
And though Hate will declare
The Bible said it's fair
To shatter our lives;
Burning rainbows with prayer.
O God, didn't You sculpt us all from the same clay?
Why're men with guns free, but men in love depraved?
