The Okey-Dokey Hokey-Pokey by jim vecchio
Children's Rhyming Poem writing prompt entry

You lay your right hand out

You put your left hand by it

You keep them both together

And kneel instead of sit

God thinks you’re okey-dokey

For it’s always prayer weather

That’s what it’s all about.

You bow your head in

You let your prayer out

You can whisper soft and gently

There’s no need to shout

God thinks you’re okey-dokey

Your prayers reach up from the ground

That’s what it’s all about.

You let your prayers all flow

And with them your praise

You offer them together

God will hear you always

And he’ll think you’re okey-dokey

As your words enter Heaven

That’s what it’s all about!

Writing Prompt
Write a poem for a child.

Author Notes
The rules just said "rhyming" poem, not that all lines needed to rhyme. In each stanza, the second and fourth lines rhyme.
