The Perchoo by Glenda Collins

In the blue forest, a lone dove lands
Trudges through dirt, mud, muck, and sands
Then through the thistle, briar, and wood
Searching alone, misunderstood

Taking to tree top, then high in flight
Birds view above- nothing in sight
A perch-oo is sung, from branch above
A sweet, lonely, love song cooed from a dove

An echo in the blue forest heard
Ohr-ohr, she sings his awaited reward
From deep in the blue she's returned the call
Then a frenzy of wind stirs up a squall

A storm's heartbeat, suddenly calm
Rejoicing, the songs join with aplomb
Fluttering wing-whistles, two will unite
Their sweet love song, sung, under moonlight
