I Remember You… but Yesterday You were so Different
I remember the soft breeze upon her skin; the sun's rays rested gently upon her exposed and beautiful color. The slight mist of twilight reflected in the glow of her eyes. The trembling of parted lips as she offered solace to mine. We shut our eyes when all of earth’s darkness embraced the world. In my waking dream I imagine the beauty of dawn and her glow besides. I open my eyes to what I did not remember nor imagine betimes. She bore a heavy strain upon her brow of one who could not bear another word. The glow of her eyes was hidden under moist tears recently rubbed away. I reached out; she sat up and started to asway. Her skin bore the signs of our loving play. My eyes peruse her form but my mouth could not help but say, “Are you okay?” She tried to afford a sweet smile but her grief bespoke and burst through; was she a woman accustomed to grief? The phone in her hand gripped tightly, as she forced sound from her voice. Strength suddenly drains from her bones as she slumps into my embrace and said, “James…”
