Shattered by Julie Helms
|
The old woman stood before the framed photograph. Taken when she was a child, time had muted the sepia tones, and cracks spidered its glass face. It was her home, a farmhouse, surrounded by windswept fields reaching to the setting sun. She stared longingly at the photograph. Her home now had fallen into disrepair. She hobbled forward and, gaze unwavering, passed through, just a whisper brushing by. She took off, skipping and laughing, as the sun sank below the horizon.
