chapters in a life like segments of an orange revolutions of a wheel   steady for a time shepherded, guided trusting, innocent certain, confident then –   something happens the earth shifts the kaleidoscope revolves the etch-a-sketch is shaken hard   suddenly I’m giddy stumbling, fumbling grasping, clasping darkness descends then –   something else happens someone reaches out a hand the landscape brightens the sunshine returns clarity returns   but only for a time   chapters in a life like facets of a diamond revolutions of a wheel Author Notes Hebrews 11 tells us that "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen". Faith for me has been a constant since my earliest memories, but like the moon, my responses have waxed and waned at various times in my life. Faith has sustained me through deep anger in times of grief and it's been a moral compass through the confusing and contradictory voices the world throws at us. Could my faith be stronger? Always. Do I always do the things I know I should? No. Am I human and therefore flawed? Very much so. Am I forgiven? I hope so.
