It's Sunday morning and in the bed
Is my favorite human, a man called Ted,
I'd lick his hand before I bark
Today we're going to the park
He's out of bed and in the shower
A quick sluice down at this early hour
The coffee brews while he makes the bed
Then it's kibble for me and toast for Ted
I love Ted. He rescued me
From a life of utter misery
With an old, grey cat he brought me home
Me'n the cat no longer roam,
It's collar time so it's still I stand.
As the spiked and studded leather band
Goes around my neck the medals jingle
I lick my chops, being all atingle
The cat curls up in Ted's warm chair
When we get back he'll still be there
Just a pile of soft grey fur
Ted says he has the loudest purr.
At last! We're off! Hooray hooray!
I wonder who'll be there today
Monty and Bandit, Shoo Shoo and Russ
And that cute little female
Who caused such a fuss.
Here they all are, ready to run
Jumping into the fountain is fun
Ted will say I smell like a hog
When all I am is just a wet dog
There are balls and sticks to chase and catch
And where did I find last week's patch
That reeked of year old horse manure?
I'll wallow in that today for sure.
The hours have passed, it's time to go
Ted's standing there with a whistle to blow
But I know my limit and make my path
Towards home and the cat and a nice warm bath.
