Mother earth had provided again this season.  Melons had performed exceptionally well.  A firm rind with yellow hues split open showcasing a mouthwatering flesh of crimson red.  It was either face first or scooped like ice cream.  No matter the delivery, results exceeded expectations!  Remembering my Mom on Mother’s Day. Writing Prompt Can you write a complete story with only 50 words? That's the challenge of this writing contest. Author Notes My mom and I shared watermelon often. Just prior to her death and having suffered from a stroke, my Mom continued to reach out across her lap with her one working arm and grab a chuck of fresh, delicious watermelon with the enthusiasm of a child. Truly, a beautiful woman and a spirit unmatched.
