To My Family
Thank you for taking care of me year after year.
You can't see me, but I know you can feel me near.
I am watching over you every single day.
I love you so very much, more than words can say.
Logan, thanks for taking the time to play with me.
We grew up together; you spoiled me, you see.
All of you know I enjoyed life too much to bark.
I enjoyed all the times you took me to the park.
I loved the ways each of you showed me you did care.
You gave me good food to eat. You were always there.
My big bed I laid on I loved to call my own.
You got me when I was small; I became full grown.
Then I got cancer. Many people prayed for me.
I'm grateful for this. It prolonged my life you see.
I no longer wanted to run around and play.
The pain I felt inside hurt more than words can say.
Then the day was here. It was time for me to die.
I knew you would shed some tears when you said good -bye.
You can grieve all you want, but I am now pain free.
I have many friends here. They run around with me.
One day I know that I will
come running to you.
I'm grateful that I will see other loved ones too.
When that day comes, I will lick the tears on each face.
We will be together in this beautiful place.
