Games we played

by JLR

A page torn from the passage time

telling of family, neighbors and friends

getting together, playing 'til the midnight chime.

Sally sitting with Ken and Barbie, until the day ends.

Rob & Pete play Mr. Potato Head,

Sonny playing with his silly putty, watching it bend.

Sally tossing Sonny the frisbee until her arm went dead,

Whilst serious Rob made animals with his play dough.

Pete made waves with the hula hoop, until his face turned red.

Roy Roger and Dale Evans were on the TV show

as Sonny hopped around on the pogo stick.

while down the stairs the slinky did go.

On Sunday, the games we played,  pick-up stix,

Annie, Annie over, Duck, Duck, Goose,

and Simon Says,"stand on the red bricks."

So, childhood, yes, it was  foot free and loose!

We played in the rain, the cold, the sun.

Never were any battles truly won, reading Dr Suess.
