A Passion Of Mine To Achieve
Becoming An Accomplished Author
by country ranch writer
Being able to express one's self they say comes with time. It is a good feeling when you write something and people respond well to it.
"I have always wanted to be a writer even before I learned how to write. I was four when I started wanting to write on scraps of paper."
My Grandpa encouraged me all he could. He bought me my first Journal.
When I became older I kept writing my thoughts and dreams in my Journal as I traveled alone from rodeo to rodeo. Writing about people, places, and friends I had made along the way. My dream was always to be the best writer I could be. Every year Grandpa would have Grandma send me something special for my birthday. You guessed it a brand new Journal, he never forgot till the day he died.
Grandpa always had a way with words. He would ask me questions like
"What did you write?" "Why did you write it?"
Grandpa would listen, then give me his words of wisdom.
" Say what is on your mind and be thoughtful of others and their feelings"..
"Be careful and don't be hasty in judging others or their writing."
Grandpa's favorite was
"An ounce of kindness goes a long way."
I would always summarize my notes on what I was doing to jar my memory at a later date. Seemed to work for me.
I always wanted to be the best writer I could be. Writing has enriched my life so much. I have been playing catch up with the things I didn't learn in writing.
Everyone has noticed the changes in the quality of my work. Being able to write something someone would be interested in and hold their attention has enriched my life.
When someone reads my story and wants to know what happens next it gives me a feeling that I have accomplished what I set out to do.
"keep their attention to the end."
The problems that I have to overcome are the things I never knew I needed to know. Because of my sincerity to continue to improve so many people have given me the opportunity to shine. My writing friends have guided me and are working with me to show me how to improve my writing. There are just some things one has to be shown what to do and how to do it.
In my case and I am not ashamed to admit it is expressing feelings. I write from the heart and putting things in to dialogue has been one of the problems I have been facing. One challenge is writing what one has in one's head on paper:using the correct function is another. As the time changes over the years so does the way people do things differently.
Writing has enriched my life for this I thank each and everyone. I have gotten encouragement and help for my writing, and I appreciate every little push I've received. One day I just might become an author well known by my peers.
