"Hurry Back, Debbie"

Prologue
Are You Ready to Come Back Yet

By Debi Pick Marquette

Are you ready to come back yet

My lovely friend, I'm in your debt

I will not try to make you stay

But you are not making my day :)

And with my tears, I'll sadly fret

Are you ready to come back yet

Things here just will not be the same

You're one less who will share my name

I hope you see how much I care

A friend like you is very rare

Are you ready to come back yet

One of the best friends I have met

So Debbie I will sure miss you

Be happy in all that you do

What we've been through, I won't forget

Are you ready to come back yet

Author Notes A quatern is a poem where a repeating line moves down one line each stanza.

Asking Debbie if she is ready to come back yet, before she even leaves is my way of letting her know how much we already miss her.

Please join my book to tell Debbie how you'll miss her.

Chapter 1
We Never Say Goodbye

By Debi Pick Marquette

We say —
Take care,
Be safe
Be well
On you go
Godspeed ...
as you take your leave.

But—
We never say goodbye.

Though you travel
to a place unknown,
or plan a new adventure
with treasures to find.
No doubt there's a Heaven
filled with stars and moon
and reflections of your kind.

So, take care, be well, godspeed,
on you go! I'll see you soon!
I know, I'll see you then.
Because, we never say goodbye.
No, my friend,
             we never say goodbye—

Author Notes For my friend, Debbie D'Arcy

I'll see you then" is a casual way of saying goodbye, implying you'll meet again at a later time, without specifying when or where. It's a common phrase used when parting ways, suggesting a future encounter is expected. We say that a lot down south. Or, "I'll see you when I see you."

Chapter 2
Thank you!

By Debi Pick Marquette

Dear Debbie,

I will miss you and your fantastic poems - I always looked forward to seeing your biographical poems when I came to the computer on Monday mornings.

Thank you for that delight of anticipation and for the pleasure of reading your work.

Thank you for the enormous amount of work you clearly put into each one, both in your detailed and excellent research as expressed in the notes, and in the outstanding quality of each poem - all as smooth as silk in terms of rhyme and flowing metre.

Thank you for teaching me so much via your poems and notes.

I love your writing and consider you as a brilliant poet whom few could equal. Please compile a book, or two books, of these outstanding poems of excellence!

Thank you for your reviews - how I will miss your thoughtful, insightful, and encouraging words.

Each review was written after careful reading, and you always understood perfectly what I was trying to express. Each review was  a pleasure to read because of your honesty, suggestions, and ability to encourage.

However, I do understand  - everyone needs an extended break at times. It is important, essential even, to prioritise both family and health.

Sending you my very best wishes for your time away, and I hope your circumstances will allow you to return as soon as you are able. I wish I could write you a poem - but I do recognise my limitations!

Many blesssings always, and love and hugs from Australia.

Wendy

Chapter 3
Forever bday

By Debi Pick Marquette

Debbie, with a kind heart so true,
A hero of birthday bard, we all knew.
Her smile brings joy, her laughter's a song,
In her presence, we all feel we belong.

On this special day, we celebrate you,
Our hero of birthdays, through and through.
With love and cheer, we raise a toast,
To Debbie, the kind heart we cherish most.

*****
Debbie's kind heart shines,
Hero of birthday bard,
Get well, enchant us.

Chapter 4
D'Arcy roads

By Debi Pick Marquette

Debbie, the writer of tales so grand,
With a pen in hand, she travels the land.
Through history's pages, she roams and explores,
Unveiling secrets, opening doors.

Her words paint pictures of times long past,
From ancient empires to shadows cast.
Anecdotes sparkle like stars in the night,
Bringing forgotten stories to light.

In beautiful realms, her imagination soars,
Creating worlds where wonder pours.
Her biographies breathe life anew,
To heroes and legends, both old and true.

Debbie's kind heart guides her quill,
With each stroke, she captures the thrill.
Her writings enchant, inspire, and teach,
A legacy of wisdom within our reach.

****
some haiku thoughts about a grand author

History unfolds,
Debbie's pen reveals the past,
Stories come alive.

Anecdotes sparkle,
In her words, laughter and tears,
Moments captured bright.

Beautiful realms bloom,
Imagination takes flight,
Worlds within her ink.

Legends breathe anew,
Through Debbie's kind, guiding hand,
Wisdom shared with all.

Author Notes So sorry, I hope you will be back soon to enchant us with your poems and stories.

Chapter 5
I Will Miss You

By Debi Pick Marquette

To my friend Debbie D’Arcy whom I’m sad to learn must leave,
I hope it’s very temporary; otherwise, I’ll grieve.
I'll miss your presence day to day, it won’t be quite the same.
It’s bound to seem just like a lonely candle without flame.

For gone will be the light that makes your words shine forth so bright
with biographic poems in which your subjects will take flight.
In my imagination, they become so real to me—
imbued with zest for life they are and great humanity.

With rhyme and perfect meter, you’re a wordsmith without peer.
Your poetry invigorates the subjects you hold dear
and always with a set of detailed notes that help explain
the finer points I surely would not otherwise obtain.

Not only is your poetry of highest caliber,
but you’re the one I take the greatest pleasure to confer
about the subject, which this site is really all about:
to help improve our writing. You’re my fave, without a doubt.

Your fabulous reviews reveal a very careful reading
with thoughtful comments, great insights, and tips I’m always heeding.
They’re wonderfully positive, they often make my day.
Encouragement you always give in your own special way.

So, Debbie, I will miss you, but I understand the need.
Priorities prevail, a greater calling you must heed.
I’ll pass the time without you, but with eagerness for when
you’ll grace us with your presence here among your friends again.

Chapter 6
Bella Ciao

By Debi Pick Marquette

Today I'm a little sad and blue,
A friend is leaving a one so true,
Our paths crossed in a virtual life,
Bonded by poems made of joy and strife.

Our biographical writing star,
she says farewell to us from afar,
You gotta do, what you gotta do,
It ain't about me or them, it's you!

You're one in a mill, the special kind,
Second to none, precise and refined,
Compliment'ry and supportive too,
Exceptional writing gift, bless you!

I know I'm not alone when I say,
May life be joyful and go your way,
You will be so missed by me and all,
Fan Story friends will suffer withdrawal.

Deserving of happiness twofold,
Don't be a stranger, a hope we'll hold,
there's other life commitments for now,
So long, Farewell, Au Revoir, Bella Ciao!

Author Notes Please join me in wishing our wonderful friend Debbie D'Arcy all the best...
Debbie has announced she is leaving FS (for now!), we are going to miss her friendship, guidance, support, expertise and of course her exceptional writing!
Best Wishes of happiness and health to Debbie and to her family.
I'm already looking forward to her return!!!! xx
