"Children And Life"

Prologue
Life

By pookietoo

In this life we are free to choose
Whether we want to win or lose.
There are many steps we all take.
We need to learn from each mistake.

Keep positive thoughts on your mind.
Be a person who's thoughtful, kind.
Have pride in the great things you do.
Take some time to learn something new.

When your burdens seem hard to bear,
Be sure to pray. God's always there.
Enjoy all the blessings life brings.
Our lives are full of little things.

Do not wait until tomorrow
To be a friend to those you know.
Radiate your love and your light.
Be an example, choose the right.

Chapter 1
Listen To Many Things

By pookietoo

Listen to kids laugh in a tree.
Hear many children shout with
glee.
Listen when your kids learn to pray.
Smile at the cute words they say.

Take time to listen to friends cry
Although you feel you don't know why.
Hear them sing in a concert, play.
They'll be glad you were there that day.

Hear the sound of a rushing train,
The pitter patter of the rain.
Hear the birds sing to you and me,
The rustling of leaves on a tree.

Hear your cat purr loud in your ear,
A young puppies' bark - fun to hear.
Cock-a-doodle-doo roosters say.
Listen to donkeys and mules bray.

Chapter 2
To New Parents / Those Moments

By pookietoo

To New Parents

You've just been blessed with a new baby boy.
He will bring you so much happiness, joy.
He will grab your finger and hold it tight.
You'll tell him you love him each day and night.

You'll give him all the attention he'll need.
Your look forward to the time he will read.
He'll receive hugs, kisses every day.
You can't wait to hear first words he will say.

Right now your baby will not sleep all night.
When it's time, you will teach him wrong from right.
Many times you're welcome to sleep at night.
You will ask God to help you raise him right.

Your new baby will often smile at you.
He will cry when he's hungry, tired too.
He will be right on you each night and day.
There's five basic sounds your baby will say.

Those "Moments"

Watching children humbly pray;
Hearing the cute things they say,
Seeing hugs, kisses they share,
Knowing your friend will be there.

Winning first place in a race;
Feeling the rain on your face,
Noticing the little things,
The beauty every day brings.

Smiling at someone you meet,
Making and sharing a treat,
Laughing when making mistakes
Like burning the birthday cakes.

Watching children wave good-bye,
Seeing the new things they try,
Hearing newborn babies cry,
Watching a bird learn to fly.

Positive thoughts in your head;
Smelling a rose which is red,
Learning when you said let go,
Watching children play in snow

Chapter 3
Loneliness/Yesterday, Today, Tom

By pookietoo

Loneliness

Loneliness comes when your best friend moves away
Although they're only a phone call away.
When someone goes to their heavenly home,
Their friends, spouses feel lonely, alone.

Loneliness is something people feel
Whether they're young or "over the hill".
Sometimes people feel no one cares at all,
And all they want to do is sit and bawl.

Lonely people feel depressed, have heartache
And feel life gives them more than they can take.
When children move to a new school, they hope
Their parents will ease their fears, help them cope.

When pets die, children feel lonely and sad.
No pet will replace the pet that they had.
They spent happy times with their pet each day
And loved him more than any words can say.

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Yesterday is gone. Learn from the past.
We should try to make mem'ries that last.
Forgive yourself for the mistakes you made.
Feel relieved 'cause there was a debt you paid.

Today it is time to say "I will."
I'll be positive, learn a new skill.
I will look at the bright side of things,
See all the beauty that this day brings.

I will do things which have to be done,
Take some time to relax and have fun.
I will forgive those who did me wrong,
Listen to and sing a happy song.

Look to tomorrow and what it will bring.
Plan to see the sunrise, hear the birds sing.
Pray to know the people who need you,
Those who'll appreciate things you do.

Chapter 4
Easton/Maxx

By pookietoo

Easton

My great-nephew Easton is six years old.
His friendship I know is worth more than gold.
He has a great smile which lights up his face,
Tries to make this world a wonderful place.

He enjoys playing with his two brothers.
They think fondly of and love each other.
Pizza and candy are two foods he likes.
He loves being outside, riding dirt bikes.

He enjoys going to school every day.
I'm sure there's many kind words he will say.
He loves reading books, thinks recess is fun.
His parents daily teach things to their son.

I know Easton gives hugs, kisses away.
I bet his parents have taught him to pray.
I think he does things to help Mom and Dad,
Has a loving heart, it's happy, not sad.

He plays with his grandpa, sibling to me.
He's a handsome boy, I'm sure you'd agree.
There are many ways he will show his love.
He's a great blessing from Father above.

Easton will choose a subject that he likes best.
I'm sure he does his best on every test.
I'm sure there's many he plays with from school.
When it's hot, he loves to jump in the pool.

Maxx

My great-nephew, Maxx has just turned three.
There are many things he loves, you see.
He has a great smile that can't be beat.
He's a loving child you'd love to meet.

When he's with his sister, his eyes glow.
He loves his hugs and kisses I know.
His parents just love this little boy.
He always brings them happiness, joy.

He looks cute having his hair stick up,
And he loves drinking from a straw cup.
He has a toy bike he loves to ride.
I am sure he loves to be outside.

Maxx loves to look through his picture books.
I can bet he's proud of his good looks.
Playing with trucks and play-doh he loves.
He's a precious gift from God above.

Pizza is one thing Maxx loves to eat.
He thinks ice cream's  a delicious treat.
He has a special love in his heart.
His loved ones miss him when they're apart.

Coloring, painting you'll see Max do.
He loves being with a cousin too.
He tries to listen, learn what he can.
One day he will be a handsome man.

Chapter 5
Another Easter poem/Easter

By pookietoo

EasterEaste

Upon the cross of Calvary;
Our Savior died for you and me
Forgave enemies out of love
And spoke to our Father above.

Jesus paid the ultimate price
I was willing to sacrifice.
He lives again. This gives us hope.
It gives us faith and helps us cope.

Our sins and are guilt he carried.
In Joseph's tomb he was buried.
Nail prints were in his hands and side.
He's our Redeemer and our guide.

"It is finished" Jesus did cry.
Then it was time for him to die.
After three days of darkness, gloom,
He spoke to Mary by the tomb.

Each of us will live again.
Anguish and pain he suffered
Savior died for you and me
Told God to forgive others
Each of our sins Jesus bore.
Redeemer, Lord, and our king

Chapter 6
West Side /My Step-family

By pookietoo

West Side

I attended school at West Side.

Everyone was filled with school pride.
Cheerleaders always cheered loud.
Teams always played for a big crowd.

The pirate was our school mascot.
From our teachers we learned a lot.
Our school colors - maroon and white.
Students formed friendships which were tight.

There were activities to choose.
We stuck with our teams win or lose.
Our school pride showed at every game.
Everyone knew each other's name.

Many awards were given out.
Students worked hard without a doubt.
We would sing our school song with pride.
We loved our dear ol' West Side high.

My Step-family

You don't look like me.
I don't look like you.
Some of us have different points of view.
You were not my family from the start,
But I have learned to love you from the heart.

We're not related by blood I know.
Our differences and trials help us grow.
All of us will not always get along.
We need to forgive each other, be strong.

You are my step-family, our lives blend.
Each one of you I consider my friend.
Until recently I did not know you.
Our friendships in life will see us through.

Every one of you God gave me to love.
Your are all blessings to me from above.
We need to learn how to communicate,
Have patience, trust, make each other feel great.

Chapter 7
Beautiful Autumn/ Utah Jazz

By pookietoo

Many leaves on trees which are red and gold.
They are a beautiful sight to behold.
The leaves will rustle and fall to the ground.
They fall softly and do not make a sound.

Animals prepare for cool months ahead.
In hallowed trees bears willmake their bed.
Temperatures are colder, days are shorter too.
There's lots of fun things for people to do.

The farmers collect apple, corn, and pears.
Chipmunks and skunks hibernate just like bears.
There's murmurations of starlings to see.
Halloween can be fun for you and me.

The season makes birds want to fly away.
Many times there is rain, clouds that turn gray.
On Thanksgiving families will spread cheer.
The crocus will grow well this time of year.

The Utah Jazz

Utah Jazz were hot at this season's start.
They won many games, played with lots of heart.
Several new players were on the Jazz team.
Winning a championship was the team's dream.

In the games the teams had a large deficit,
The players fought hard, they never quit.
Their new coach told them to play the best you can.
On their home court they were grateful for each fan.

When there were bad calls, the refs were not to blame.
There were times turnovers cost the Jazz the game.
Other times their three-point shots would not go in.
Heartache came when a late shot cost the team the win.

Players made friends with teammates, learned to have fun,
The end of the season made a playoff run.
Win or lose they did not get too high or low.
Their dedication made their coach proud I know.

Chapter 8
Magnific. Earth/Halloween Spring

By pookietoo

Magnificent Earth

Valleys and forests, oh, so green.
These things help me feel calm, serene.
Colorful flowers all around.
Baby animals can be found..

See the beautiful birds fly up high,
Fascinating clouds in the sky.
The sun reflects off oceans and seas.
I see snow glistening to trees.

Gorgeous sunsets will paint the sky,
A double rainbow, my oh my.
Autumn leaves on trees, red and gold,
Breathtaking beauty to behold.

The rain makes the air fresh and clean
And makes the grass pretty and green.
I notice butterflies which are bright,
Feel a brisk breeze on a cold night.

Ladybugs land on your nose, head too,
Dazzling fireworks, skies so blue.
Rocks are used for many things,
So many beauties life brings

A Halloween In Spring Poem

It's springtime, flowers are in bloom.
There is no time for sadness, gloom.
I see a witch riding a broom.
A black cat ran off with perfume.

A skeleton started a fire.
A rabbit ate with a vampire.
A ghost had to fix a flat tire.
Spiderman walked on a high wire.

There was a mermaid on a bike.
Cinderella took a long hike.
Biting a human zombies like.
A headless knight rode a kids' trike.

An ice cream cone the pirates lick.
Frankenstein enjoyed a picnic.
The werewolf held a baby chick.
The fairies liked to play a trick.

Chapter 9
Thoughts From A Cat/Poem By Dog

By pookietoo

Thoughts From A Cat

I meow until I get my own way.
I understand some words that you say.
I enjoy letting you hear me purr.
I love it when you stroke my soft fur.

Running fast is fun. I'll play with toys.
I give my human so many joys.
I love to sleep in my round soft bed.
I sleep by my human's feet and head.

I will give them a peck on the nose.
I love to step on their feet and toes.
I'll bite the head off and eat some mice.
Please do not ever feed me some rice!

I'm on their lap when I'm in the mood.
I am starving. I must have some food.
I love my humans. They love me too.
They laugh at the many things that I do.

Poem By A Dog

I bark to be let out the door,
Whimpered when I was cold and sore.
I love scratches behind my ear,
Know when my owner needs some cheer.

I will lie by his feet in bed.
He will always keep me well fed.
I tell him,"let's go out and play
But not on a snowy day."

I love fetching frisbees and sticks.
I give my owner lots of licks
I love our walks to the nearby park.
We will not go there when it's dark.
My favorite food's doggie bones;
I love to eat ice cream cones.
I love swimming which gets me wet.
I am my owner's favorite pet.

Chapter 10
Funny Poem About My Job/Needles

By pookietoo

A Funny Poem About My Job

I am a mom to a cat named Sly.
He has to have more wet treats than dry.
Feed him right now, put his mind at ease.
He is a cat, will not say "please."

His squeaky meow makes us laugh out loud.
He would be scared to be in a crowd.
He sits by the fridge until he's fed.
He will lie by the edge of the bed.

Running fast is fun for Sly I know.
He hates the heat, the cold, and snow.
You won't catch him riding in a car
Even if you do not travel far.

Sly's glad he's black and white, not yellow.
Sometimes he'll chatter to say "hello."
Sly knows the words, "hurry, let's go."
He loves us, and we love him I know.

Needles

Needles are used again and again.
They are used to ease many kinds of pain.
Including dental, neck back, and head.
They're many colors including red.

Crocheting needles-our trusty friends.
They're used to weave in all the loose ends.
They're used to repair holes on a chair.
Felting needles will reroot dolls' hair.

Large needles are used to sew on a quilt;
Will fix stuffed animals which are built,
Used to mend many clothes we wear.
Whatever is fixed is stitched with care.

Knitting I have not yet learned to do.
These needles - quite large, circular too.
Because needles are important to use,
They should be something we should not lose.

Author Notes Sly will be 11 years old on July 23rd.

Chapter 11
Little Things -Life/Lit things 2

By pookietoo

Little Things In Life

Sharing a hug and some smiles
Helping friends with their trials
Easing some of your friend's fears,
And wiping away their tears

Believing in what your friends do
Being there when they need you
Giving compliments and praise
Sharing love in countless ways

Teaching your children to pray
Hearing the first words they say
Seeing your children's eyes glow
When they see the falling snow

Knowing your kids' love is true
Because of the things they do.
Seeing toddlers learn to play.
Hearing them laugh every day.

Little Things In Life Again

Going out of your way
All the kind words you say
Knowing love can't be bought
Every positive thought

Being patient and strong
When your friends do you wrong
Saying "please" and "thank you".
To yourself, being true

Listening with your heart
Even when you're apart
Showing how much you care
And will always be there.

When things don't go your way,
Taking the time to pray.
Telling friends "I love you.
I'm proud of all you do."

Chapter 12
Hope Carries Us

By pookietoo

We hope to memorize a song,
Forgive someone who did us wrong.
Hope will always carry us through.
We hope to see the end in view.

We hope to find answers we seek,
Be like a child who's mild and meek.
We hope we'll be able to see
The person we are meant to be.

We hope to notice little things,
Enjoy all blessings each day brings;
Never give up on things we do,
Be someone who's patient and true.

We hope to make it through each day
And hear God's answers when we pray.
We hope when life on earth is through,
We will be proud of all we do.

Chapter 13
Their Love Is True

By pookietoo

He whispers sweet nothings in her ear
And tries to ease each heartache and fear.
He'll give her a hug and hold her near
Every time she needs comfort and cheer.

They love to walk, hold each other's hand
Along the beach and feel the soft sand.
They listen and won't make a demand.
They tell each other "I understand."

Sometimes he'll surprise her with a rose.
Each year their love for each other grows.
For each other they wipe tears that flow.
They have loving hearts where'ere they go.

Chapter 14
Life's Full Of Wonderful Things

By pookietoo

Beautiful flowers in bloom
The smell of cologne, perfume
A magnificent waterfall
The sound of kids playing ball

Feeling a warm gentle breeze
The red and gold leaves on trees
Birds singing to me and you
Georgeous sunsets, pink and blue

Having your spouse hold your hand
Seeing kids play with the sand
Enjoying walks to the park
Hearing puppies when they bark

Neighbors who bring you some cheer
All the songs you love to hear
A smile which lights up your face
Winning first place in a race

Chapter 15
Brothers/Things I Love

By pookietoo

Brothers

Brothers help each other when they can.
They are each other's number one fan.
They always root for their teams to win.
They're with each other through thick or thin.

They love each other and are close-knit,
Play baseball with a favorite mitt.
They enjoy going on walks, riding bikes
And get exhausted going on hikes.

Brothers will attend each other's game.
They will fight, sisters accept the blame.
They always stay by each other side.
In friends and their sisters, they'll confide.

Hunting and fishing they love to do.
They will always see each other through.
I think they are a gift from above.
They show sisters respect, lots of love.

Things I Love

Feeling the rain on my face,
Trips to a wonderful place
Hearing children sing a song,
Say "sorry" when they are wrong

Colorful rainbows up high
The wispy clouds floating by
Feeling a warm gentle breeze
The rustling of leaves in trees

Seeing the sun shining bright
Hearing the crickets at night
So many stars in the sky
A beautiful butterfly

Lovely flowers all around
Snowflakes falling to the ground
Hearing the birds sweetly sing,
All the blessings life will bring

Chapter 16
There's A Time/Time Again

By pookietoo

There's A Time

There's a time to scold,
A time to be bold.
There's a time to cry,
A time to ask why.

There's a time to smile.
Accept your trial.
A time to shine bright,
Radiate your light.

There's a time to sew,
Share the things you know.
There's a time to love,
Feel peace from above.

There's a time to try
And a time to die.
There's a time to grieve,
Share what you believe.

There's A Time Again

There's A Time to flee
And to climb a tree
There's a time to pray,
Hear cute things kids say.

There's a time to see
What you mean to me.
There's a time to share
And a time to care.

There's a time to learn
And do a good turn,
A time to listen;
See snowflakes glisten.

There's a time to run,
A time to have fun.
There's a time to fall.
Be strong and stand tall.

Chapter 17
Smile And Be Positive

By pookietoo

Set your goals high,
Reach for the sky.
Love who you are,
Know you'll go far.

Share joy and light
Each day and night.
When you are wrong,
You can be strong!

Through every trial,
Know you can smile.
Never lose hope.
Help your friends cope.

Let things you say.
Light other's way;
But most of all,
Rise when you fall!
