Prologue
Ghost of Mother

By Lea Tonin1

Quick! Must run! She frowned -

Inconveniently remained

Child of Mothers gone

Author Notes My mother,
Could've been there but she chose bowling, cards and her friends instead leaving us at the hands of her husband.

Chapter 1
Undone

By Lea Tonin1

sorrow in torrents

melancholic soul recoils

from the Prince of Pain

Author Notes This poem is the result of the
"Come here, go away man" as I call him
Gas lights you until he thinks he,'s got you and then throws you back again.-And-forth back the definition of insanity is doing the. Same thing over and over again and expecting different results time to move on.

Chapter 2
Sorceress

By Lea Tonin1

On top of her broom and into my room, she flew.
She dropped with a sigh and stared in my eye, she grew!
A quake in my knees and soft spoken plea's, I knew.
She'd come to break me, shake and hate me, I too...

....Stand up and take that things bony face and strike!
All of my might I lash out and fight its right!
We wrestled, wrangled, blood and tangles. I bite!
Sorceress wins no ungodly sin tonight.

Lull that comes after, heart beats faster, I know.
See what's in inside her the rage on fire to grow.
Night comes calling, no stops, no stalling. she'll show.
Into the gloom I'll enter my room, then go.

Cycles I'm living, taking,  giving such woe......
Leaving behind the shell of my mind to sow...

Freedom.

Author Notes Therapist might call this the fear trap. I simply observe the characters. And once again we fight to keep the balance.

Chapter 3
The Battle of All Hallows

By Lea Tonin1

spring morning glory loudly shivers while in quiet vine

the army of pumpkins herald the winter to come

night creatures do not belong in the spring light

steals the summer for the pumpkins reign.

draculean teeth, werewolves claw - bullets to wreak havoc.

witches storm with magic breath harvests springs renewal

spring takes the yoke of destruction foreign to its nature.

to battle All Hallows Eve and save the birthing summer.

daring buds burst their pistilin swords

spirits shoot forth crystalline fear tendrils

new season birds pummel vast pumpkin fields

trumpet vines snakes the eyes of pumpkin soldiers.

orange blood declares Halloweens defeat

the supernatural retire, monsters shrink back to den

spring settles commencing its seasons prerogative

summer tiptoes in...

Chapter 4
Specter

By Lea Tonin1

specter of his mind -

Illogical

surety

reigns

Author Notes When a person suffers from delusions or delusional ideas, there is no reasoning with them it is almost impossible to change what they feel is right and true. All you can do is accept and attempt to aid in recovery, accept and move on or both.

Chapter 5
The Wolf's Lair

By Lea Tonin1

Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of violence.

a smile - the orphan on her face slips
there is no purchase without a foundation
rage the evenings repast with sour fear garnish
large is the fist as all things are when you're five

"tell them what he does and they'll take him away," said Mother
back to the audience of the wolf.
toss - she flew and a blanket of splinters came scratching
the cupboard gave stoppage with its material

betrayal as only a mother can teach is her gift for life.
black stare the paralyzer of herself
falling, scraping, crawling, blood, the why bewilders
fourteen she grows - the wolf knows too a new fear is born

creeps through the door hoping for silent feet
dark said no tossing the fist, her face the embrace
crimson, the favourite banquet of a canines appetite
explosive outrage finally destroyed trepidation

fleeted foot fueled by years set her to flight
never to return to the lair of the wolf, anything else - heaven

Author Notes As you may or may not have guessed.. I'm the girl in this poem. Dark as it may be, it peels the onion and my soul grows lighter...

Chapter 6
The Drift

By Lea Tonin1

tumble weeds roll

thirsty wind, prolonged drought kills

Life my garden, drifts

Author Notes Sometimes what happened could happen to anyone. You own the house you live in....You own the car you drive....all one day, the next day it's all gone..

Chapter 7
The Heart Asunder

By Lea Tonin1

Air through your gaze bare and stripped...

Stripped is your heart wounded no care....

Care in your ears for now you take heed....

Heed of that woman elusive as air......

Author Notes This was challenging to write. "To loop" as the contest requires and then the ABCB was a very interesting thing to wrap my brain around and I certainly had to think about it. knew my inspiration had to come from the heart to give it substance and meaning.

No Accident

By Lea Tonin1

intoxication

Screeching  metal twisting frame

our child is now...gone

Chapter 10
The Night Man

By Lea Tonin1

human guise sincerity you feign

mutant teeth lifes blood you drain

victims stance shows night man's there

Creates the dance, the paralytic scare

cold steel your body not eagerly pressed

no movement gained in struggle he's best

surrendered to weakness my killer I eyed

knowing too late sweet undeath he lied

Chapter 11
A Step Beyond

By Lea Tonin1

gone was I in the deep vacuum of roaring nothingness.

a place where no memory can live.

colliding mind drowned in fire burning doubful visions.

scenes flickering loud.

sureness of questionability form with a secret not shared.

conviction assured.

caress the hope of knowknowledge those of life no longer grasped.

eludes their natural state.

beckoned my attention craved in

blissfull naivety.

bewilderments shadow.

so opened the gates, rush the guise of life they come.

audience honesty, earnestly.

not for corporeal eyes, the door turns slight shift right.

through the gate comes knowing.

a man in sickness battles pain from lost loved ones divide.

of fate no inkling rises.

inside my eyes she rose, words of love, light, wellness flowed.

step aside the deluge comes.

deep dawning of sun, relief drawn, etched in his face resting.

deliver the mystery revealed.

not of this world flow continues, words come when bidden.

all from God ever present.

change runs rough shod, my living mind spins, flips.

just a phone booth...step aside...

relax...

Author Notes The veil between this world and the next is thining everyday and time speeds up. See the signs in the world around us. Our advancement sped in the last hundred and twenty years of our evolution and the systematic pull down of our planet.
Nothing I can do is mine. It's God's alone and I am merely a phone booth.

Chapter 12
The Great Wrong

By Lea Tonin1

Inconceivable

Blanket of stupidity

dream a free ukraine

Author Notes Greed the motivator for this thing called war. And the biggest oxymoron is calling it a "Holy war" there's nothing "Holy" about it.

Who Am I?

By Lea Tonin1

Can you sense the turn beneath your feet?
I am the turn

I am the air
Can you see the forest with your eyes?
I am the forest

Can you touch the ocean with your hands?
I am the ocean

I am the food
Can you feel the grass between your toes?
I am the grass
Can you climb the mountains with your legs?
I am the mountains

Can you feel myriad wounds bleeding?
I am the wound
Can you feel the drill of untold holes searing?
I am the holes
Can you feel panic when your lungs are removed?
I am the lungs
Can you feel Earth explosively cracking?
I am the Earth

I am the Earth weeping

Author Notes Our dwindling resources heating plant and over population it's believing in already troubled world.

Chapter 14
Gas lighter

By Lea Tonin1

what is this wrapping sweet chains around my heart

what is this power enveloping who I am

what is this smile and gesture - your gaze of centuries

what is this deliciously locked prison

what is this bewildered disillusionment

what is this scratching deceitful harlequin disguise

what is this crimson granite where my heart once lived

what is this vacuum he left that used to be me

what is love you ask
I really don't know
pain

Author Notes These words are as honest as I can be and based on my experience only. Familial love is conditional in my world. I'm older now but still think it's possible...

By Lea Tonin1

Chapter 18
Moon Craft

By Lea Tonin1

hypnotist - secret identity revealed in your kaleidescape gaze

ritually you don the cloak seen removed again when the sun flees.

magnificence reigns the observers called to order feverishly languishing .

moon jets cooling the day movement by permission the sun cannot give.

blankets of beauty she drapes on the unsuspecting, sweetly jailed.

bow low our mooncast commands - ride the gift of passion only she can give

Our feminine moon gathers scattered beams casting in circles - armor she wears.

saddle the equine light...another night to gallop comes.

Author Notes Took this picture on a very clear night. I don't get many of those here in Vancouver. Couple days ago there. It was i'm happy to display it.

Chapter 19
Never Be Me....

By Lea Tonin1

Precipice

And the granite unmasked

Not my heart in immobility

Injustice

Disguise of righteousness

Not my soul in perpetual quake

Punishment

That which he doled smiling

My body he forced, never will be....me

Chapter 21
Bread Please

By Lea Tonin1

Bereft begs on blood-shredded knees bread, please
Ragged clothes and skeletal  arms rattle bread, please
Empty red soil infertile cold fields bread, please
Ask the children with bowed bent backs bread, please
Drowned in the dust is grandma's heart pain bread, please

Pleading victims wars ravenous repast bread, please
Lamenting the winter the soldiers bear hunger bread please
Extoles no virtue starving the masses bread, please
Animal flesh the rotting earth totters bread, please
Savage ending one open hand grasping bread, please
Exiting life children's withered mouth whispers. bread....please.

Author Notes As the earth's natural resources deplete and food becomes sporadic the starving increase and disease runs rampant, We must look to ourselves and rise above all our petty BS and see the world and what's going on here and now.

Chapter 22
I Am, You Are

By Lea Tonin1

I am the fall leaf that spins on the branch.

The autumn flower bowing to winter's gaze.

I am the last bird to chase the fleet foot sun.

The final cut of skeptical, loon grass.

You are the silent shriek of winter's gasp,

The tease of time's cryptic temper.

You are the promise of menagerie green.

The progenitor of silver scent melts.

We are the bridge of blended suns rising.

The continuance made it possible.

We are wakers and sleepers of the in-between.

The silent clip of the small hand turning.

Welcome to the newborn summer.

Chapter 23
River Wild

By Lea Tonin1

joy and sadness tangled fate

one came home extremely late

my gleeful sons rods in hand

deceitful river, fish they planned

shifting forest running free

twisting turns among the trees

grinning water spies the meal

two young boys come to heel

laughing, spinning noonday sun

they bait their rods in hopes of fun

jumping floating rock to rock

follows the stream with no dock

fluidic arm grasps the child

muscled water river wild

lost in waves shifting death

a small boy lost, weight and breath

searching, yelling, hoping, praying

darkling dusk a night in making

a silent moan, shifting white

brought my son to my sight.

along the banks amongst the trees

lay my boy who coughed and wheezed

in my arms my son returned

the memory forever burned

love, live in moments they say

So often time just slips away

my sons they grew,

thank god for two

could have been one...

...or none

Chapter 25
Disguised

By Lea Tonin1

hurricane onslaught

your heartless abducting wind

I am heart and wind

Author Notes When the balance is upset in a couple and the dominant completely absorbs the submissive, the submissive becomes the paper in the wind held hostage by the mood of the captor.

Chapter 29
The Great Demise

By Lea Tonin1

Soil shrinks cries then dies

cracklin' earth

planet dims, tongue lolls

Author Notes As our Earth becomes more and more depleted, things like fraction of the earth's crust happens and we get these very fast moving sinkholes that are apparent and unavoidable. All over the world and this is a direct result of sucking underground dry artesian wells. Our Earth is drying up like an old Orange.... We cannot keep taking without pconsequences, eventually we lose everything.

Chapter 30
The Grass is Greener

By Lea Tonin1

Cars flash in brilliant beams
Computers whir in silent streams
crystalline technology
just the latest thing to see

Surrounded in these sights and sounds
resolve disolves the very ground
buy today and pay next year
The only deal is now my dear

Beware the shiny pretty things
they take from you your home and stings
temptation's next to naked greed
vigilance is all you need

Chapter 31
Invasion

By Lea Tonin1

malevolence flirts eastern deceit
dances with cossacks flashing bright
grandiose entitlement
with imagined greatness
strikes his neighbor down
greed his dark God
injustice
creates
hell

Author Notes Speaks of Putins greed and the needless death of others because of it.
