Creating verse makes me think of the rainbow
As I look out from my window
I write and think
My brush strokes are pen and ink
I take my palette and splash some lines
Words painted in art and designs
Amazing glory that the heart refines
A rainy day comes pouring from the skies
Quatrains and sonnets, words to the wise
I see the arching colors with a poet's eyes
Poetry calms the deluging rains,
I take up my pen and think of what remains-
Flowers tilted over, drops running down panes
Spirit of peace after the storm
Rainbows in verse, the world to adorn
Author Notes | We've had a lot of rain in recent months, and I love to look up and see the rainbow, sometimes a double rainbow. Thanks to CammyCards for artwork. |

Lilies are most pure
Roses display blood-red bloom
Sunflowers shine bright
Author Notes | I love watching gardens bloom at the beginning of spring Thanks to pieonane from Pixabay |

Sun rays slanting through trees
Birds chanting on a breeze

Trees
Casting shadows
Against pure white snowbanks
White-veiled limbs toss out powdery flakes
Author Notes | I looked out my window and saw the slanting shadows of trees across the snow, which inspired this poem. Thanks to mbll from Pixabay |

Birds
Flying on wings so strong
Carrying my poetic thoughts and words
Singing joyfully in cheerful song
Floating on air
Glorious word flair
Melody
Descending and ascending
Harmony
Tones never-ending
Ring through the air
Glorious word flair
Word
In rhythm and rhyme
Some forms of which you never heard
Soaring through time
On days so sunny and fair
Glorious word flair
Author Notes | inspired by shelley kaye's club event- word flair poem |

Blessings and graces of birth-
There's a reason I was put on this earth
To spread my verse and song in different places
Birth of blessings and graces
This day of birth
Is of invaluable worth
In this winter month I pray
Birth of this day
Author Notes | A poem for my 68th birthday, January 14. thanks to Frauke Riether from Pixabay |

Dark blue and black shadows creep over a river swamp at midday
Gravelly rocks and sand surround the forbidding water
With a bent tree growing out from the shore
I have entered swamps in my life
Where I am surrounded by cloudy skies
And my face is pictured in fading sunlight
Reflecting the river's stillness
While eerie hills hover above

Leaves float
Falling gently
Onto a forest floor
A delightful panorama
