Haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of 17 syllables or less. It's usually about nature, brief, and insightful.
The Haiku Club is formed by a group of fanstory poets who meet to write, learn, and talk about haiku. We use a chatroom called 'Teamspeak3' where we can talk with each other. Joining is easy, just send me a private message and I'll let you know how. We have many fun projects. The Haiku Challenges is one project. They are a way to generate more haiku on our site and have fun. All you have to do is click here to add your haiku to our multi-author book. I will post a challenge every Sunday and you have a week to write it. I will post the challenges at the Forum's Challenges Room. Look for HAIKU CLUB CHALLENGES. Another Haiku Club project is publishing haiku anthologies on Amazon. This anthology contains eighteen haiga and one hundred and fifty haiku from twenty-six contributing authors. All authors are members of the FanStory Haiku Club. FanStory is an online group of international writers. The focus of this book is on "Nature". It features a variety of observations made by these writers and their insights into the meaning of those observations. Authors have issued a weekly challenge and asked to write a haiku about a specific aspect of nature. The best of these haiku were selected for this book. We are happy to announce that this book is now available on Amazon USA and Amazon Canada. It will be available on Amazon Europe soon. It is listed at the minimum markup that Amazon would allow. Any proceeds from this book will go to the FanStory Haiku Club to help defray the costs of the second book. No one on the haiku club board of directors or any other individual will make any profit on this book, even though we contributed over $400 to complete and publish it. We hired a professional graphic artist to complete the layout of this book. It has full-color haiga. The overall presentation is flawless and very appealing. It is a book that all of FanStory can be proud of. We will be starting on the second anthology sometime in September. If you want more information to join the haiku club, please send me a private message. Thank you for reading, Gypsy Blue Rose FanStory Haiku Teacher Haiku Society of America Member |

The kigo is June 22, 2017 or summer, the day the healthcare bill was presented to the Senate.
It's about illness because it will affect the ill people in our country, especially the poor. President Trump promised he would not cut Medicare, Medicaid, or social security but he is a liar. The healthcare bill is the worse bill in American history and it's a crime. Medicaid will suffer huge cuts in much needed services like mental health, nursing homes, maternity leave, etc.... **Kigo-Midsummer
Shakespeare's tragic love story, Romeo & Juliet, is set in mid-July. Juliet's 14th birthday was coming up in two weeks on Lammas Eve, and Lammas Day is August 1. The play covers a span of just five days, so this business about their love being a 'spring to summer' romance is purely nonsense. As always, thanks for reading. |

I wrote this haiku from a memory of my first summer love. I was 15 years old. I pretended my bikini top came undone and I run to the shore where my first love waited. I asked him to please tie my bikini top. It sounds stupid now but at 15 it sounded like a great idea to get his attention and it actually worked. LOL His name was Pedro and he was my summer love.

The Haiku Club Anthology is published! It contains eighteen haiga and one hundred and fifty haiku from twenty-six contributing authors. All authors are members of the FanStory Haiku Club. FanStory is an online group of international writers. The focus of this book is on "Nature". It features a variety of observations made by these writers and their insights into the meaning of those observations. Authors were issued a weekly challenge and asked to write a haiku about a specific aspect of nature. It is a book that all of the FanStory can be proud of. We will be starting on the second anthology sometime in September. If you want more information to join the haiku club, please send me a private message. Thank you very much, Gypsy Blue Rose FanStory Haiku Teacher Haiku Society of America member |

It has been months since my depression took over my life. Long days run into short nights of nothingness, the saying, “killing time” comes to mind. I watch the clock hoping bedtime comes quickly so I can stop thinking and can sleep for a few hours. When I wake up my first thought is, oh God another day of emptiness. I repeat the old mantra in my mind…. 'I will get better'. I hold on to hope like a baby holds on to her mother’s finger…. for dear life.

In the roaring twenties Mamie lived the life of an unfettered flapper in the remote and conservative Appalachian town of Logan, West Virginia. She was married to a poor deputy but cavorted in local speakeasies with some of the more prominent married men in town. Her liberated sexual escapades apparently led to her brutal murder on June 21, 1932. Early the next morning her dead body was found along remote 22 Mine Road. She had been beaten, her throat was slashed from ear to ear and she'd been shot in the head twice.
After her body was found an illiterate, black handyman was charged with her murder. He worked for the prominent banker who was Mamie's next door neighbor and landlord. However, many in town found it hard to believe that the meek, soft-spoken handyman and sometimes chauffeur was capable of such a vicious killing. It was widely rumored that Mamie was having an affair with the banker, who she also worked with. In addition, the primary evidence against the handyman was blood found in a car he often drove and was seen driving the night of Mamie's murder. The car, however, was owned by the banker. Many thought that the handyman might have disposed of the body but not been the murderer. They suspected it was the banker or possibly his frumpy, jealous wife. |
